Gary Neville reluctantly takes selfie with fan who crashed into his Land Rover

Gary Neville endured a less than stellar morning as his Land Rover was hit - but the man responsible still asked for a selfie.

The former Manchester United star has built an impressive business portfolio since retiring with a hotel in his home city among his assets. It was outside the building that his 4x4 was hit, sustaining damage around the wheel arch, but Neville himself appeared calm.

The individual responsible didn't miss up the opportunity to pop the question though as he asked if the pair could take a photo together. Neville has become a major social figure since packing in football, making his political views known on social media whilst also being a leading pundit with Sky Sports.

He was present at Wembley on Saturday as he watched from the stands. Unfortunately for him United were undone 2-1 by neighbours Manchester City. Ilkay Gundogan scored the winner for Pep Guardiola's men who are now eyeing the treble in the Champions League final this weekend.

Neville had said before the final that he was optimistic the Red Devils could cause an upset and halt the City juggernaut - and made his feelings known on the winning goal. “Ah well a big disappointment. A poor second goal to concede. Time for a mini-retirement. See you in August," he said on social media.

City can now claim the treble by beating Inter Milan at the weekend, which would see them emulate Neville's United side of 1999. They remain the only English side to achieve the feat, which leaves many in red hoping the Italian side can do them a major favour in Istanbul.

Before the FA Cup final Neville was open about his want to end the treble dream, but confessed that Guardiola will be on the same level as Sir Alex Ferguson. He told The Times : “Do I want City to win the treble?. No! No! No, I don’t. Nobody wants City to win the treble if you’re a Manchester United fan.

“But if they do the job in the Premier League and beat Manchester United [in the FA Cup final] and Inter Milan [in the Champions League final] you’d just have to hold your hands up and say, ‘This manager and this group of players have achieved something unique.’ And that, actually, it’s quite fitting if this manager does it.

“Sir Alex Ferguson deserves to be the only manager in history to have done the treble because he’s the greatest but if Pep Guardiola joined him, he’d be a worthy companion, because I think he is equal of what Sir Alex Ferguson achieved. If you think what he did at Barcelona then Bayern Munich, and what he’d do at City with the treble... I mean, when we talk about greatness.
