Gary Neville names the two Liverpool players at fault after Arsenal regained lead in huge clash

Arsenal faced off against Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium in a huge test of their Premier League title credentials on Sunday evening. Goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka in the first-half cancelled out Darwin Nunez's equaliser to make sure they took the lead at half-time.

The first goal came in the first minute of the match as Martinelli found space on the left and swept the ball home to make the home crowd erupt. The visitors took control as the first-half wore on though, dominating the midfield battle as their key players got on the ball more often.

However, it was a long ball up field that led to the equaliser as Luis Diaz raced through on goal before squaring it to Nunez to tap the ball in. The rest of the half played out in Liverpool's favour, but they were unable to take the lead until the game changed once again in injury time.

In a quick transition, Martinelli got on the ball on the left and played a ball across the box as Trent Alexander-Arnold vacated the space. Saka stretched every sinew in his body to make sure he could poke the ball home to restore the lead going into the half-time break.

After the goal, Sky Sports pundit Neville discussed who was at fault for giving away the goal from Liverpool, saying: "They’ve been struggling for the last 20 minutes of this match, Arsenal, but somehow in the fifth [minute] of injury time at the end of the first half they get a counter-attack. It’s not good enough from Thiago, I praised him all the way through the first-half, I have no idea what Trent Alexander-Arnold’s doing here though I have to say, once he goes across there he leaves Tsimikas isolated on his own.

"Liverpool’s right-back goes across and that’s not good enough. He had to stay in the middle, Henderson was showing him down that line and Saka is stretching for his life. Arteta, who would’ve been wanting his side to go in level, can get them in 2-1 up now."
