Gary Neville names Manchester United's two most important players

Gary Neville described Marcus Rashford and Casemiro as Manchester United's "most important players" ahead of Sunday's Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United at Wembley.

The duo, who both played key roles in the 2-0 win, have each played formidable roles in the club's resurrection under manager Erik ten Hag this season. Rashford has enjoyed a record-breaking campaign, netting more goals this season than he has in any previous campaign during his career.

He has been outstanding since returning from the World Cup in December, cementing himself, through the eyes of many, as the most in-form player in the world. He has been scoring goals for fun this term and is showing next to no signs of slowing down.

Casemiro, meanwhile, has been as equally important in the club's renaissance this term. Signed from Real Madrid last summer, the Brazilian has transformed United's midfield and the team as a whole, acting as a leader within the group.

And for Neville, Rashford and Casemiro are the most important players at the club.

"He [Rashford] came through as a young player in an unstable environment with managerial changes and not being very successful," Neville told Sky Sports. "When I came through, the management was very stable and there was a successful group of players.

"But it is getting to that point now where he has become one of the leaders in that dressing room. He has experienced difficult moments both on and off the pitch during his time at Manchester United, so he’s been through that first phase of losing his confidence which is really important.

"Him and Casemiro are the most important players to Manchester United at the moment."
