Gary Neville makes 'laughing' claim after watching Liverpool midfielder post-Manchester United interview

Gary Neville has heaped praise on Thiago Alcantara following his performance for Liverpool against Manchester United on Tuesday night.

The Reds marched to a dominant 4-0 win that briefly sent Liverpool back to the top of the Premier League table. Goals from Luis Diaz, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane showcased the prolific nature of the team’s frontline, with all three forwards also registering an assist.

However, one of Liverpool’s midfielders also caught Gary Neville ’s eye. The former Manchester United defender claimed that Thiago Alcantara found it easy against the Reds’ fierce rivals at Anfield.

“What Liverpool have done is, they’ve toyed with Manchester United,” he told the Gary Neville Podcast . “I was watching Thiago and Salah doing an interview, Thiago was laughing when he came off the pitch, he was laughing at them all game.”

Neville continued: “Jurgen Klopp has got them into a position whereby they’re looking unstoppable. They’ve mauled Manchester United tonight, absolutely mauled them. This is a very special team that we’re watching.”

The Spanish international played 80 minutes until being replaced by Naby Keita . And Thiago explained what he and Salah were laughing about when the pair spoke in their post-match interview .

“As we were joking some seconds ago, when we have the top level strikers that we have up front and we have this attack three from - or whoever comes in - when we saw not just how they score in offensive, but in defensive situations," he said. "We just want to make the team perform and make high pressures."
