Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville believes that Manchester United still have a chance of winning the title this season amid a battle between Arsenal and Manchester City at the top. The two frontrunners have been heavily favoured for the title, with the Red Devils showing glimpses of putting together a run.
The race for first took another twist and turn over the weekend as the sides took on teams they have historically struggled against. The Gunners took a trip to Everton early on Saturday to face their new boss Sean Dyche, who got an instant reaction out of his side and won 1-0 through a James Tarkowski header.
"Well I think Everton were really good," Mikel Arteta said in reflection of his side's defeat at Goodison Park. "We have to congratulate them first for how they’ve turned things around and I think they made it difficult to win the game because they were really efficient.

"From our side disappointment, because we didn’t get the result that we wanted and the performance doesn’t reflect what we’ve been doing especially in two phases – one, when they were really direct and we struggled to control that type of game and get back to the game that we wanted to play, and then with the amount of open situations that we generated in the final third that has to finish with goals and clear cut chances more than we’ve done today."
It gave the champions a chance to close the gap when they faced Tottenham away, but that has traditionally been an unhappy hunting ground for them. It proved to be the case again on Sunday as Harry Kane's goal was the difference as City faltered yet again this season.
It leaves the balance of the race finely poised, with a five-point gap between the top two and with Arsenal holding a game in hand over their rivals. One side that may have befitted from the result is Manchester United, who have been on the periphery of a challenge this campaign and moved three points off City with victory over Crystal Palace.
It has led former United defender Neville to believe they have a chance in the title race, saying on the Gary Neville Podcast: "It’s not ridiculous to say they could win the title. I don’t think they will and I’ve never thought they will this season because it’s a bit early for that but I would be getting worried if I was Manchester City.
"The fans will start getting worried now with the way they’re playing and the way Pep Guardiola is tinkering with the team. United look a happy bunch, City look a bit moody and need to come out of that spell. Man City could easily still win the league but Man United are in a good position too."
