Gary Neville makes Arsenal claim amid Manchester United race for top four spot

Gary Neville has tipped Arsenal to finish in the top four this season, with the pressure now on to secure Champions League football. The Gunners are in great form having won their last five top flight games and are currently a point clear of fifth placed Manchester United, with three games in hand.

The Red Devils travel to the Emirates Stadium for a blockbuster showdown on April 23 in a match that could prove crucial to both side’s top four aspirations. Neville suggested earlier this month that United would beat Mikel Arteta’s side to fourth spot, claiming he didn't 'trust' the Gunners to get over the line.

"I still think Man United could do it," Neville said on Sky Sports in the aftermath of United’s 4-1 defeat to Manchester City. "I don’t trust Arsenal fully, I think it would be brilliant for Mikel Arteta and those young players. They’ve been fantastic.

"But, I do think they have got some big games still to play. I think Manchester United have still got to go to Arsenal as well, there is a long way to go and United could still do it."

However, the former Man United star has revised his opinion on Arteta's team. He is now backing the Gunners to clinch a place in European football’s elite club competition.

"The reason I said about a week or so ago that you can’t fully trust Arsenal is because they’ve not delivered yet," Neville said on Monday Night Football.

"The pressure now, I think is on them in the sense that now there is an expectation that they’ll finish fourth. I think they’ll finish fourth.

"But they’ve got Liverpool on Wednesday night, Aston Villa away on Saturday. They’ve got Tottenham still to come, Manchester United to play. Manchester United have got difficult games as well. But now they’ve got to go on and prove that we can trust them and they can go and deliver Champions League football which was against all expectations at the start of the season."
