Gary Neville labels ‘waste of space’ Manchester United team worst he’s ever seen after Liverpool beating

Gary Neville slammed the Manchester United players after they collapsed to another heavy defeat against Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp’s side moved to the top of the Premier League with a 4-0 win at Anfield, with Mohamed Salah at the double and Luis Diaz and Sadio Mane also on the scoresheet.

United were particularly woeful in the first-half, and across the whole match managed 28% possession and just two shots.

It was as similarly one-sided as when Liverpool won 5-0 at Old Trafford earlier this season and Neville believes this is as bad as it’s been at the club for a long time.

“I’ve been watching Man United for 42 years and this is as bad as it gets honestly,” Neville said on Sky Sports.

“Watched them through the 80s, I’ve never seen a group have a lack of appetite to play during my time watching the club.’

He added: “Lets be fair this United team are a waste of space, however the football Liverpool are playing is absolutely sublime.”

Ralf Rangnick came in as interim manager after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked but he has failed to have any positive impact on the side, which his time in charge seemingly coming to an end this summer.

Erik ten Hag appears most likely to take over as the new permanent manager, but Neville insisted the problems at United run much deeper than just the man in the dugout.

“Said Man United looked promising towards the end of last season,” Neville said.

“The demise and where they’ve been at all season has been alarming. What we’re watching right now is nothing. This is just a nothing.

“These Man United players want the season over so they can hide behind the new manager and blame the old. An excuses culture permeating the whole club.

“They’re in shape but they’re walking. The lot of them. Which one of them looks alert or like they’re going to press. At best it’s an amble. Most of them are jokes.”
