Gary Neville impressed by 'decent' Leeds United new boy Weston McKennie

Gary Neville has been left impressed by what he's seen from Leeds United's new arrival Weston McKennie. The USA international arrived at Elland Road in the January transfer window and was impressive in the Whites 2-2 draw with Manchester United last week.

McKennie has an impressive relationship with his international team-mate Tyler Adams and Whites' supporters will be hoping that continues. Leeds are of course yet to win since the midfielder arrived at Elland Road from Juventus last month.

However, there have been encouraging signs from the 24-year-old in his last two outings. Defeat to Manchester United leaves the Whites in desperate need of a result at Everton next weekend, a direct rival in the fight against relegation.

Speaking to Sky Sports before kick-off at Elland Road on Sunday, Neville said: " I like the three that played for the USA in the World Cup, obviously two of them play for Leeds here now - Weston McKennie and Adams - and they did really well I thought on Wednesday night. Obviously he’s come over, he’s a stocky lad - quite small the pair of them but they get about the pitch really well.

"They can close down, they’re actually decent on the ball when they get it as well. So, I think in that midfield today it’s going to be really interesting.

"Manchester United’s midfield - I thought Sabitzer had a difficult night the other night but he was obviously getting used to English football. I thought McKennie and Adams ran over that Manchester United midfield with Fred and Fernandes in there as well, I thought Leeds did pretty well the other night."
