Gary Neville has hit back at Graeme Souness after the ex-Sky Sports pundit admitted he was left unimpressed by some of his opinions and "crusades".
The 69-year-old departed his role at Sky on Sunday and issued an emotional statement following Liverpool's 4-3 win over Tottenham, describing the last 15 years as "magnificent". Souness quit management and moved into punditry with Sky in 2008 and became an ever-present on the channel.
After leaving Sky, Souness decided to jump on a podcast with talkSPORT's Simon Jordan to discuss several topics - and one of which was about Neville and Carragher. Souness decided to compare the iconic duo as the Chuckle Brothers but also took no time to have a dig at Neville.
"I like listening to Roy. I think the Chuckle Brothers, Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher can be entertaining. It makes me chuckle anyway. He fights every cause going," Souness told the Up Front With Simon Jordan podcast.
"I've got to choose my words. I think he does overstep the mark with some of his crusades that he goes on. Because no one is really interested in listening to him on certain subjects."
However, Neville quickly took to social media to fire back at Souness. He tweeted: "Are their two Graeme Souness's? That isn't the one I spoke to on Sunday! Jordan is like Boris [Johnson]. Will take everyone down with him."
Carragher couldn't help but to join in with the fun in the comments and posted a GIF of the Chuckle Brothers in response to Neville's post. A number of fans decided to taunt Neville, with one saying: "Gary actually looks like he could be their 3rd brother."

Souness' exit from Sky came as a surprise for some supporters. However, he revealed that he will miss everyone at the company since his arrival 15 years ago. He said: "I’m going to miss you guys, the guys behind the scenes, our make-up girl, I’ll miss you all.
"You know, for me, I decided that football management wasn’t for me any more. I had the wrong temperament for it, the wrong personality. And then I was given the opportunity to do this and it’s been magnificent. It’s just been the most fantastic time for me, because I love football, I care about football and I worry about it going forward.
"But in Sky’s hands it’s in good hands, safe hands, and I think over the years we’ve created a Premier League with great detail and I think we look after football very well. But for me personally, I’ve got the buzz of live football coming to some fantastic games.
"I think I owe 100 apologies to people, but we haven’t got time for that. I think people at home obviously don’t always agree with us, but it’s been great guys it really has. And it’s great right now to be amongst friends and nothing goes on forever."
