Gary Neville hits back at Jamie Carragher over cheeky Manchester United dig

Manchester United hero Gary Neville has hit back at Jamie Carragher after the former Liverpool player tried to get under his skin during an exchange on Twitter.

As expected due to their connections, Neville and Carragher have clashed regularly over the years on our TV screens and this latest Premier League matchday was no exception - especially with Liverpool humbling their fiercest rivals with an astonishing 7-0 verdict at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah led the way for Liverpool in that showdown by scoring two goals each. Firmino rubbed salt into the wounds for United after being summoned from the bench.

Such was the magnitude of that scoreline, pundits, supporters and general observers went into overdrive with their assessment and Neville did not hold back when analysing the result himself. However, after the Sky Sports favourite was put into the firing line, he soon hit back at Carragher.

In a light-hearted post, Carragher suggested Neville had withdrawn from being on the panel for Monday Night Football - as Brentford met Fulham in their London derby - but Neville promptly responded advising Carragher to "behave himself" before he appeared on the Sky Sports show.

Stoking the fire in post ending in three laughing face emojis, Carragher said: "Gary Neville has cried off from MNF... What analysis do you want most?"

Neville, who added a clown emoji to his reply, said: "Behave yourself. Never meant to be on as you know. I will be relaxing looking forward to watching you eulogise over a team you've killed for two months."
