Gary Neville explains why there are 'big problems' in the Manchester United dressing room

Former captain Gary Neville believes that "big problems" remain in the Manchester United dressing room, despite the Reds securing a 3-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Saturday evening.

Cristiano Ronaldo, following his absence against Manchester City last weekend, netted a stunning hat-trick to help the Reds open up a five-point gap on Spurs. After seeing his first two goals wiped out by equalisers, Ronaldo's third of the game, which came via a header, wrapped up the points.

Having stuttered in recent weeks, it was a huge result for the Reds in their quest to secure a top-four finish, as well as being one that could set them up nicely for Tuesday's Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid. However, one victory has not made all of United's problems disappear.

And that is a view shared by former United man Neville. Despite watching his old club register a big win in their quest to secure a top-four finish, he addressed the "problems" within the United dressing room, suggesting that interim manager Ralf Rangnick is not "enjoying" managing this crop of players.

"I think there are big problems in this dressing room, I really do - between characters that exist," Neville told Sky Sports. "I don't think it's great at all.

"If Tottenham had of got one in front you'd have seen it capitulate quite quickly. There's not a deep spirit in that dressing room, performances are patchy.

"You get the impression when you see Rangnick's interviews that he's not enjoying the team much, he's just trying to get through this season the best he can. He's plastering over cuts and wounds that are deep."
