Gary Neville has claimed that Manchester United are at an "all time low" after their 4-0 defeat to Liverpool on Tuesday evening. The Red Devils could have gone level on points with fourth-placed Tottenham with a win at Anfield but were outclassed and outfought by Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The defeat also left United two points behind Arsenal, who have played two fewer games, leaving them needing a seismic shift in results in order to get back into the race for fourth spot. And they will need a much improved performance when they travel to the Emirates to play the Gunners on Saturday lunchtime.
Ralf Rangnick’s side also host Chelsea following their trip to north London, and their top-four aspirations could effectively be over if they lose both fixtures. Neville also cast doubt on their hopes of securing Champions League football after their chastening defeat at the hands of their bitter rivals, describing United’s players as "broken".

"It was a sobering evening, but I think every United fan expected it," he said on Sky Sports after the game. "I don’t think one United fan came here with one bit of hope whatsoever. But you try and build yourself in that little half an hour pre-kick-off that something could happen, but nothing, that team has got nothing.
"It is becoming very predictable now because there are some decent players out on that pitch and there is some talent. So, I have no idea and don’t know how to explain how it has gone from being slightly promising, finishing second last season, to the point of an all time low in my 42 years of watching United.
"I have never seen it as bad as that. I have never seen a Manchester United team wilt in a football game in my 40 years of watching them.
"The players are broken, they are broken players. There are some decent players out there, they have talent and have played at good levels, but they are finished and they are broken this season. It is a mess."
