Gary Neville Arsenal prediction proven right after Chelsea example logic

Gary Neville has been proven right on his prediction for Arsenal vs Liverpool after the latter's performance earlier in the week against Chelsea. The Blues dominated Jurgen Klopp's men on Tuesday evening but their poor form in front of goal continued with Allison rarely tested and able to keep a clean sheet.

The Reds were extremely guilty of allowing Chelsea to attack with minimal resistance just a few days after their 4-1 drubbing at Manchester City. Klopp made numerous chances to his starting XI which included Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson, Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk omitted.

All four returned from the start against Arsenal, with many considering that to be Liverpool's best back four. However, they were undone twice in the first half hour of the major Anfield clash with Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus on target.

The Gunners had been in scintillating attacking form prior to their meeting with Liverpool and having watched a tepid Liverpool against Chelsea, Gary Neville made his prediction clear for how Arsenal would fare against the Reds.

"It's for certain if they were to give Arsenal the chances they've given Chelsea tonight, they would be well behind in the game on Sunday," he said. "It's certainly fair to say the Manchester United legend was proven right on his prediction as he also was very critical of the back four."

"There is an element of looking at that Liverpool back four, you can defend them because they’ve got some credit in the bank over the last few years with their performances, he added. "But it’s getting really difficult because they’re not doing the basics. Trent not sprinting back, van Dijk idling across, legging someone up. It’s schoolboy stuff."

Mohamed Salah pulled one back just before half time as tensions boiled over with Granit Xhaka and Trent Alexander-Arnold at the centre of the melee. While Liverpool have been able to drag themselves back into the contest, Liverpool's poor defending proves there will be more chances for Mikel Arteta's men in the second half.
