Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher's Newcastle United spat amid 'double failure' claim

Sky Sports pundits Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have disagreed over two points in Newcastle United's near future - whether they'll win the Carabao Cup Final and whether they'll finish in the Premier League top four.

The Magpies have been flying in domestically this season having dropped just two matches in all competitions this season, to Liverpool in the league back in August and a shock F.A Cup third round upset loss to League One Sheffield Wednesday.

However, the comments came from both while at Stamford Bridge covering the match between Chelsea and Fulham last night. With Newcastle's clash with West Ham promoted to viewers for the weekend, Carragher highlighted Eddie Howe's side's mention.

"That’s the Newcastle team that Gary Neville doesn’t think will finish in the top four or beat Man United in the Carabao Cup Final," the former Liverpool defender pointed out.

Neville, who played for Newcastle's Carabao Cup Final opponents for 20 years, was quick to hit back at his colleague, saying: "It will be nice seeing Newcastle finish in the top four, but my prediction is that they might not Jamie, is that okay?"

"Every prediction is what? ‘They might not'," Carragher fired back before the pair laughed it off.
