Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher give same verdict on Man City vs Arsenal title race

Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher reckon Arsenal will slip away in the Premier League title race this season before Manchester City go on to pick up another top-flight crown.

City have reigned supreme in four of the last five campaigns - with Liverpool winning the title in 2020 - while they are among two mid-season candidates as things stand. However, there is a surprise at the top with Arsenal earning 34 points from their 13 matches so far.

Pep Guardiola and his star-studded City players have recorded 10 wins, two draws and a defeat from their games so far and remain favourites to defend their trophy. It is shaping up to be an exciting battle when the players return from World Cup duty, but Neville and Carragher expect Mikel Arteta and the Gunners to come up short.

The pair were speaking on The Overlap in partnership with Sky Bet. Neville said: "Manchester City will win the Premier League by 10-15 points this season. I've seen it before when you've got a team that's so exceptional and we had that a few times with Manchester United when I was playing.

"You just know when a team hasn't got it in them to go all the way to challenge the top team. If Arsenal do that, it will be unbelievable and I want City to be pushed, but it won't happen."

Carragher added: "Arsenal won't win the league because City are far too good for anyone else to challenge. But I would say that Arsenal have been the best team to watch this season for excitement and how fast they play.

"It reminds me sort of when Jurgen Klopp first came to Liverpool and felt like it was 100 miles per hour. But with quality and the football they played at Chelsea, they are a certainty to get top four."
