Former Manchester United defender and pundit Gary Neville appears to have aimed a sarcastic tweet at Arsenal fans, already declaring the side as "champions". It comes ahead of the Gunners' huge top of the table clash against Newcastle at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.
The side moved seven points clear of nearest challengers Manchester City just a few days ago, extending their lead at the summit since their return to action from a six-week break. They will have their title credentials firmly tested in the next few weeks with some big games coming up.
First of those is against the Magpies, who are in third and sit only two points behind the Citizens in second, with Mikel Arteta expecting a tough clash: "A very good team. Very well coached. I think what Eddie has done in that short period of time, you look at the numbers, it’s incredible. Big credit to him and his coaching staff.

"Then they have created a belief, a big momentum around the team that they play the same way against any opponent. We are going to play at home in front of our crowd and we’re looking forward to it."
Ahead of the game though, there has been plenty of discussion surrounding the title talk, but the seemingly sarcastic tweet from Neville about the Gunners stemmed from transfer talk. Discussing Chelsea's big-money move for Enzo Fernandez on Twitter, the former defender was called out on his former side not being questioned for some of the funds they have spent in comparison to some Arsenal signings.
Neville appeared to hit back, with the Sky Sports pundit tweeting: "Relax Arsenal fans I’m coming to see the 2022/23 champions tonight. Congratulations."
The premature congratulations may come across slightly sarcastic, given that there is plenty of games between now and the potential to wrap up the title.
