Gary Neville admits he still has 'little hope' about Liverpool after naming Premier League favourite

Pundit and former Manchester United star Gary Neville has admitted he has 'hope' Liverpool's form will dip this season and says only Tottenham could come close to challenging the top two.

The Premier League campaign kicks-off this weekend, starting with Arsenal's away trip to Crystal Palace on Friday night. Liverpool and City both play on Saturday, the Reds take on Fulham and the current champions face West Ham.

After last season's title race went down to the final day, it's anticipated there will be another exciting battle on the cards this term. However, if Liverpool's form was to drop, Neville believes only one other team could challenge Pep Guardiola's side.

"Liverpool and Man City (can win the title)," he told Sky Sports. "City will definitely finish in the top two. Liverpool, I always have this little hope rather than thought that they might just dip slightly, and then maybe Tottenham are the only team I can see that can get close to them.

"I don't feel Chelsea, United, Arsenal are in a position to get close to the top two. The Champions League will cause a problem for Tottenham but they've got some world-class strikers."

When asked who will go on to win the title, Neville replied: "Man City."

Both Liverpool and City have strengthened this summer, City have brought in the likes of Erling Haaland, Kalvin Phillips and Julian Alvarez. The Reds, on the other hand, have welcomed Fabio Carvalho, Calvin Ramsay and a potential club-record signing in Darwin Nunez.
