Gary Lucy shows off injuries from Boxing Day car crash after he admits he's 'lucky to be alive'

Former Hollyoaks star Gary Lucy has shared the extent of his injuries after being caught up in a horror car crash on Boxing Day.

The actor, 41, has been left with horrific bruising and is 'lucky to be alive' following the smash which saw his black Range Rover left beyond repair.

The actor shared images of the damaged vehicle after the crash as he told followers "Someone was watching over me today [100 per cent emoji]."

Gary spent Christmas Day with new girlfriend and Love Island star Laura Anderson in her native Glasgow before crashing his car. The pair met whilst filming E4's Celebs Go Dating earlier this year.

After suffering the crash on Boxing Day, Gary was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he shared snaps of himself in a hospital bed before being allowed to head home with crutches.

Now he's shown the extent of his injuries including some painful looking bruising down his leg. Sharing the purple bruises in a snap to his Instagram Stories, Gary captioned the snap "So pretty" before adding a vomiting emoji.

In an Instagram post the actor who used to play Will Fletcher in the soap Hollyoaks thanked the NHS for their care, and also thanked girlfriend Laura for looking after him.

Taking to his Instagram Stories the day after the smash [December 27], Gary reposted a collage of snaps originally posted by girlfriend Laura as he wrote: "Huge thank you to all at Glasgow Royal Infirmary Hospital."

The star then added a personal message for his reality TV star beau, writing: "And to one special nurse in particular... @lauraanderson1x," alongside three red heart emojis.

Following Gary's Boxing Day crash, Laura thanked a Saint for sparing her new boyfriend's life.

The star took to her Instagram to share a snap of a card of Saint Joseph which Gary had been given by his gran.

Alongside the picture, she wrote: "We’re not religious but thank you St Joseph for saving my love.

"Gary’s gran gave him this, it had words about safety and protection on the other side. I pulled it out of his bag yesterday morning just before his accident."

She went on to ask her followers: "Do you keep anything sentimental with you for protection?"

The horror crash happened after the couple spent their first Christmas together in Laura's hometown of Glasgow.
