Gary Lucy confirms reason behind split with Scottish Love Island star Laura Anderson

Gary Lucy has confirmed the sad reason behind his shock split with Scottish Love Island star Laura Anderson.

Days after the seemingly loved-up couple announced they were expecting their first child together, the Hollyoaks actor was forced to state that their romance had ended.

Love Island star Laura met the Hollyoaks actor while the pair filmed Celebs Go Dating last year, and enjoyed a whirlwind romance following the E4 show. The former couple would frequently post loved-up snaps of one another on social media, and Gary, 41, spent Christmas and New Year in Scotland celebrating with Laura, 33, reports the Daily Record.

After announcing they are expecting their first child together, Gary revealed that Laura ended things with him following the first baby scan. The former soap star revealed their break-up came after a series of rows after he refused to move to Scotland, as he wanted to be closer to his other four children who he shares with his ex-wife in England.

"Laura did want me to move but I have my responsibilities here," he told The Sun. “I have four kids and all the things that go along with that so it’s very difficult, if not impossible, to uproot at this time."

He continued: “Having gone through a divorce, my children need me and living such a long way from them just would not be possible. I wish I could break myself in half. I would if I could.”

Despite their split, both Laura and Gary are committed to co-parenting their unborn child together. He added that he still thinks the world of Laura and doesn't rule out a future reconciliation.

He told the publication: “We can’t get things to work at this time, but who knows what the future holds? I think the world of her. She’s carrying my child and I love her even more than I did before because of who she is and what she is doing.

“It’s incredible. She’s doing a wonderful job. I would have loved things to have worked out. But we’re doing our best to do things right and be responsible, loving co-parents going forward. The baby is our number one priority."
