Gary Lineker has labelled the reaction from pundits to Jesse Lingard signing for Nottingham Forest as 'really bizarre and irrational'.
As outlined by NottinghamshireLive in a piece that Lineker himself refers to, the transfer has prompted an 'unhealthy obsession' from the likes of Richard Keys and Simon Jordan who have criticised the move. Keys asked 'how on earth' Lingard could choose a move to Forest instead of West Ham after describing him as only a 'bang ordinary' to occasionally 'good' player
Jordan, on talkSPORT, accused Lingard of having 'flushed' three years of his career at Manchester United by not taking the opportunity to sign for West Ham permanently at an earlier date because he 'made it about finances'. Keys also made the not-so-subtle suggestion that money was the player's motivation by signing off the aforementioned tweet with a money bag emoji.

There have been some figures coming out in defence of the 29-year-old, though. Gabriel Agbonlahor is a notable player-turned-pundit dismissing the critiques of Jordan and Keys, with which the latter has now taken umbrage.
Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker has now added his support to Lingard. Quote tweeting a NottinghamshireLive article about the furore, Lineker replied in agreement: "Agree with this piece. Really bizarre and irrational reaction to Jesse Lingard's move to NFFC."
