Gary Lineker has sent England captain Harry Kane a message as he moved one step closer to Wayne Rooney's record as Three Lions all-time goalscorer.
The Manchester United legend has held the record since 2015 after going past Sir Bobby Charlton with a penalty against Switzerland. Fast forward to 2022 and the Tottenham Hotspur striker did the same; he is now level with Charlton after dispatching a penalty following a VAR handball check.
His spot-kick sees him just four off levelling Rooney, five away from toppling his record and now second in the charts. The strike from 12-yards prompted a message from one of the England greats, who is now in Kane's wake.

Lineker tweeted: "Was nice having you for company, @HKane [Kane's Twitter account]. Never thought it would last, but it was fun for a while."
The 28-year-old still has time on his side and will be looking to add to his growing tally, the next opportunity will be their friendly against Ivory Coast. Kane fired in seven goals in England's last two World Cup qualifiers to hack away at the former Three Lions skipper's record.
He has reached the top two in the goalscoring charts in just 68 appearances but still sits behind Peter Shilton, Rooney and co. who lead the standings for appearances. On breaking the record, he said: "I would love to break that record.
"Hopefully, with the games we have this year, that will be possible. I am in a really good place at the moment."
