Gary Lineker took to Twitter to praise the moment on-loan Newcastle youngster Elliot Anderson scored the goal to seal an unlikely automatic promotion for Bristol Rovers. The Match of the Day presenter hailed the moment as 'amazing' after a seven goal swing - secured by the Gas beating Scunthorpe 7-0 on the final day - meant that Joey Barton's side won promotion in third place, edging out Northampton Town on goals scored.
Anderson joined Rovers on loan at the end of January and his winner marked the perfect end to a successful first loan for the 19-year-old. His goal and two assists on the final day meant that he finished the season with eight goals and five assists in just 21 appearances.
There will now be a question over whether Anderson will be a part of Eddie Howe's squad at St James' Park next season or whether Newcastle will give him a loan at another level. Bristol Rovers will likely be keen to offer him League One football, but after the youngster impressed so well in his first senior experience, he may have offers for Championship football next term.

After Anderson's goal, the match was suspended for a period due to a pitch invasion. Barton was forced to ask fans to leave the pitch via the stadium's PA in order for the match to continue.
