Gary Lineker gently mocks Todd Boehly with Chelsea vs Wolves verdict after Premier League draw

Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker has added to Chelsea's misery with a cheeky tweet poking fun at Todd Boehly after the Blues' latest setback at the hands of Wolves in the Premier League.

It has been a frantic 24 hours for Boehly and his consortium after his takeover deal was confirmed by the club on gameday before all the drama unfolded on the Stamford Bridge pitch. The club statement read: "Chelsea Football Club can confirm that terms have been agreed for a new ownership group, led by Todd Boehly, Clearlake Capital, Mark Walter and Hansjoerg Wyss, to acquire the Club.

"Of the total investment being made, £2.5bn will be applied to purchase the shares in the Club and such proceeds will be deposited into a frozen UK bank account with the intention to donate 100% to charitable causes as confirmed by Roman Abramovich. UK Government approval will be required for the proceeds to be transferred from the frozen UK bank account.

"In addition, the proposed new owners will commit £1.75bn in further investment for the benefit of the Club. This includes investments in Stamford Bridge, the Academy, the Women’s Team and Kingsmeadow and continued funding for the Chelsea Foundation. The sale is expected to complete in late May subject to all necessary regulatory approvals. More details will be provided at that time."

Onto the game itself and despite an unexpected Romelu Lukaku double in the early parts of the second half, defensive frailties which were exposed all afternoon continued as the west Londoners yet again showed the drop off which has been evident since the Brentford thumping a month ago.

This despite having the likes of the usually reliable Thiago Silva, Antonio Rudiger and César Azpilicueta all in Thomas Tuchel's backline for this fixture. Although it could be argued that all the off-field activity in the build-up to the 3pm kick-off may have helped unsettle the team, manager Tuchel wasn't in any mood to entertain this theory as he explained in his post-match press conference.

"I don't think ownership is a reason for lack of focus. We showed when the situation began that we can still focus," he said. "I would not consider this as advantage for Leeds [who they play on Wednesday]. It does not change much for us as the sanctions are not lifted. It's not worth thinking about, we have our own stuff to solve and make better."

As well as Arsenal and Tottenham fans who would have loved Conor Coady after that late equaliser shook up the top four picture once again, Lineker himself took to social media to gently poke fun at Boehly in a tweet which didn't go down too well with Chelsea fans who weren't in the mood for jokes after this latest setback.

He tweeted on @GaryLineker: 'The ChelseaFC franchise led 2-1 but a Conor Coady levelled things at the bottom of the 9th.'
