Gary Lineker has praised Liverpool following their win over Villarreal.
The Reds beat the Spanish outfit 2-0 in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final at Anfield on Wednesday night. An own goal from Pervis Estupinan opened the scoring for the Reds in the second half before Sadio Mane doubled their lead moments later.
Jurgen Klopp’s team were made to work for both of their goals having endured a goalless first half. But the final stats for the game ended with Liverpool recording 19 shots on goal, compared to just one from Villarreal.

And after the full-time whistle, Match of the Day host Lineker was full of praise for the way the Reds navigated the test and claimed they made the match look easier than it perhaps was.
“They’re such a good side are Liverpool that they make tricky encounters look fairly straightforward,” wrote Lineker.
The Reds will be hoping to book their place in next month’s final when they face Villarreal in the return leg at the Estadio de la Ceramica next Tuesday.
