ORLANDO, Fla. — Gary Harris, an unrestricted free agent, plans to return to the Orlando Magic.
Harris was finalizing a 2-year, $26 million deal, which can’t become official until 12:01 p.m. on July 6, to return to the Magic Thursday evening, his agents told ESPN.
Harris, who the Magic traded for in March 2021, averaged 11.1 points (43.4% shooting from the field and 38.4% shooting on 3s) and 2 rebounds during the 2021-22 season with Orlando.
Teams were able to communicate with free agents starting at 6 p.m. Thursday before being able to agree to terms six hours later.
The free-agency moratorium is a negotiation period from Friday through July 6 in which teams can come to terms on contracts and other deals while the new salary cap numbers are adjusted after an audit of league finances.
