Paedophile Gary Glitter is set to "earn hundreds of thousands of pounds" from the new Joker movie.

"Rock and Roll part 2" is played for two minutes during a scene where Joaquin Phoenix dances down a staircase while transforming into the titular character.

The film has become a smash hit after grossing £188 million worldwide.

The Sun reported that "according to experts" Glitter stands to make "hundreds of thousands of pounds" from the film's box office success.

Glitter, whose real name is Paul Gadd, is a convicted paedophile.

The 75-year-old is currently serving a 16-year prison sentence for attempted rape, indecent assault, and having sex with a child under 13.

This is not the first time Glitter is reported to have made money from royalties since his first conviction for possessing child pornography in 1999.

In 2013 it was reported the former pop star made an estimated £1 million in royalties, as well as £200,000 for copyright infringement, from Oasis' 1995 track "Hello".

It contained the lyrics "hello, hello, it's good to be back" from Glitter's 1973 song "Hello, hello, I'm back again".
