One of Nottingham Forest's top youth coaches believes Brennan Johnson is destined to reach the Premier League after he continued his excellent form this season.
Johnson is enjoying his first full season of second-tier football with Forest having spent last season on-loan with Lincoln City in League One.
The 20-year-old has scored six goals and contributed four assists in 27 Championship appearances for the Reds this season and is Forest's second highest scorer.
He is now one of Forest's top assets and is drawing plenty of transfer interest this month - including rumours of a £15million move to Brentford.
Johnson was quizzed on his immediate future by Sky Sports at full-time and the young attacking midfielder responded: "I'm not too sure. I'm loving my football at the moment. I'm very confident. All the boys are.
"I want to keep going and keep doing well."
But Forest's director of professional development, Gary Brazil, made an exciting comment about Johnson's development.
He posted on Twitter: "What an outstanding talent Brennan is growing into. He will have dreamed of today on many occasions whilst coming through our @NFFCAcademy.
"Much more to come, Bren is made for the PL, preferably with @NFFC."
Johnson's current deal sees him tied to the City Ground until the summer of 2023.
Reports this week suggested Brentford would be prepared to pay a club record £15m to secure his signature, while former Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen has also been linked.
Forest head coach Steve Cooper has previously said there is no intention of letting Johnson go this month - although it remains to be seen whether a substantial offer would change that stance.
“Of course we want to keep him. I don’t want to lose anybody in January that I want to stay,” he has said.
“I haven’t even thought about him leaving. I’ve just thought about how he gets better, how we support him, how we push him, how we challenge him and how we get him to strive to do even better than what he’s doing, because now is not the time for him to stand still - it’s the time for him to kick on even more.”
