Gary Barlow makes Geordie gesture as he arrives in Newcastle for three night run at Tyne Theatre

Gary Barlow immediately ingratiated himself to his Geordie fans as he brings his A Different Stage shows to the city, by making a Newcastle Brown Ale inspired post on social media as he headed to Tyneside on Monday.

The Take That star and award-winning songwriter has stripped things back for his latest venture, which sees him take over smaller venues, to the packed out arenas and stadiums he's used to, turning the clock back to how his illustrious career in music started and playing a plethora of Take That classics as well as a few surprise covers.

Many fans who've been to see the show in the likes of Salford and Liverpool, have stayed rather tight-lipped on the setlist and what actually happens in the show, for fearing of spoiling things for any others who've got tickets and on Monday night, it will finally be time for Newcastle audiences to get in on the A Different Stage action.

Gary will take over the Tyne Theatre on Westgate Road for three nights in a row, with very limited tickets still available. And the man himself got into the Geordie spirit nice and early as he headed off on the journey from the North West to the North East for the gigs. After posting a stunning interior shot of the theatre on his Instagram story, Gary followed it up with a post which saw him superimposed next to a bottle of Newcastle Brown, along with the words 'We're On Our Way. A Different Stage.'

While Gary was just heading up to Newcastle on Monday, some of the A Different Stage crew arrived a night earlier and got talking to locals in city centre pub The Hotspur. A drinker who bumped into them, took to Twitter to post: "If life isn’t bizarre enough, we’re sitting in The Hotspur in Newcastle with Gary Barlow’s road crew. Funny old world innit?"
