Gary Barlow to arrive in Edinburgh ahead of eagerly awaited show at the Lyceum

Gary Barlow is heading to Edinburgh this week as the Take That star gets ready to host a series of shows in the capital.

Performing at the Lyceum Theatre, Barlow will be serenading the city with his 'A Different Stage' tour.

Getting excited about the run of performances, the 51-year-old had taken to social media earlier this week to share images of the Lyceum ahead of his arrival.

Posting on Instagram at around midday on Tuesday, Barlow announced he was Scotland-bound, uploading a short clip of his flight taking off.

The Different Stages tour will be in town for six nights only starting tonight (March 22) and ending on Sunday, March 27.

Barlow will play the 658 seat venue and tickets went on sale only from the Lyceum website.

The show was written by Barlow, with collaborator Tim Firth, with whom he wrote Calendar Girls and the Take That musical, The Band.

The star he turned to theatre in recent years after ending his time on the X Factor.

The show sees Barlow narrate the journey of his life alongside the music from his own career.

He remembers how Take That were first formed in Manchester, and the five lads went on to pop superstardom, before the pain of their split and the joy of their comeback.

He said: “Now I’ve done shows where it has just been me and a keyboard. I’ve done shows where I sit and talk to people. I’ve done shows where I’ve performed as part of a group.

“This one, well, it’s like all of those, but none of them. When I walk out this time, it’s going to be a very different stage altogether.”

The shows will be the only ones in Scotland but anyone who misses out can pre-order a copy of the book.
