Garrett Wilson redeemed an awful Zach Wilson pass for what might be 2023’s catch of the year

Garrett Wilson may have made the best touchdown catch of the 2023 NFL season and it’s only Week 1.

Monday Night Football’s tilt between the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills had nearly everything. After Jets fans’ enthusiasm for new quarterback Aaron Rodgers was snuffed out thanks to an incredibly unfortunate injury during his first drive, it seemed as if New York fans would never know a moment of peace. And yet, the Jets hung in there against the Bills, in part thanks to their defense stepping up in big moments against Josh Allen.

Late in the fourth quarter, the Jets were able to tie the game 13-13 thanks to Garrett Wilson bailing out Zach Wilson with an absolutely stunning touchdown catch. On second and goal from the four-yard line, Zach Wilson threw a pass right at the Bills’ cornerback in coverage, but Garrett Wilson was able to turn and swat the ball away from the defender before being able to corral the ball himself after a heart-stopping juggle.

As Joe Buck succinctly — and excitedly put it — WOW. What an incredible catch from Garrett Wilson. It’s one that will be shown on highlight reels all season long and it’s one that likely saved Zach Wilson an interception on his stat line.

Here’s how NFL fans reacted to Garrett Wilson’s incredible tying touchdown catch for the Jets.
