Garrett Wilson has high praise, makes bold claim about Ohio State receiver

Former Ohio State wide receiver, Garrett Wilson, knows a few things about the position. Wilson became one of the all-time greats at Ohio State during his three-year run with the Buckeyes. After a spectacular career in Columbus, Wilson was No. 10 overall pick in the NFL draft courtesy of the New York Jets and was named the AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Wilson was in attendance for the annual Spring Game at Ohio Stadium this past Saturday. During the live broadcast, a Big Ten Network sideline reporter caught up with Wilson and asked about current Buckeye standout Marvin Harrison Jr. As you can imagine, Wilson had glowing comments about his former teammate.

“He’s better than anything I’ve seen, so watching Marv is truly an honor… He’s got the right head on his shoulders, goes about things the right way, and then he can ball,” Wilson said. “It shows on Saturdays, it shows on days like this. Most importantly, he’s a great person, and I’m excited to see the success that he’s having.”

Coming out of Texas and spending a year in the NFL, Wilson has certainly seen his fair share of talented receivers. To say that he hasn’t seen anything like Harrison Jr. is truly making a statement.

Harrison tallied 77 receptions, for over 1,200 yards and 14 touchdowns in his sophomore campaign. As gaudy as those numbers are, last year’s breakout season may just be scratching the surface. If what Garrett Wilson sees is true, we can count on even bigger things from Harrison Jr. in the years to come, both at Ohio State and at the next level.
