Gareth Southgate is reportedly looking to move away from management and look for a new career after stepping down as England manager.
Gareth Southgate To Step Away From Management For New Career
After England’s 2-1 defeat to Spain in the Euro 2024 final, Gareth Southgate decided to leave his post as manager after eight-years in charge.
During his time as Three Lions boss Southgate guided England to back-to-back Euro finals, a quarter final at the 2022 Qatar World Cup and a World Cup semi final in 2018
Following his exit from the England camp, Southgate had been linked with several jobs and was the favourite to get the job at Manchester United on UK betting sites.
However, after the Red Devils appointed Ruben Amorim it appears the 54-year-old will not be returning to football and posted on LinkedIn to highlight the next steps of his career.
Southgate said (Via LinkedIn): “After eight years serving in one of the highest profile roles in World Football, I’m consciously taking time to reflect on what I lived through and thinking deeply about what comes next. Looking back there are matches and moments I will remember for the rest of my life.
“Coaching top players was a challenge that pushed me to operate at the very highest level. The weight of the role with the unique responsibility it carried was something few ever get to experience. Perhaps the hardest thing of all to replicate though, is going to be the sense of purpose.
The post on LinkedIn is rather long-winder but we have identified the key bits, with the below confirming his decision on not being limited to just a football coach.
Southgate continued: “Every morning I drove through the gates of St George’s Park, I had a responsibility to improve English football. Whenever the National Anthem played pre- game, I was representing 50 million people, their hopes and dreams.
“This was not only for the players and staff beside me but also for the millions of young people watching, who might find inspiration and hope in what we do.
“It’s why I’m not limiting my future options to remaining as a football coach.
“For now, I’m finding my required purpose within all that being able to dial up the days supporting my chosen charities.
Despite this possible shift away from football, Southgate is continuously linked with possible job openings but his future in the sport remains unclear.
