Gareth Southgate will remain as England manager, according to The Telegraph and The Times. He has made his decision off the back of last weekend's World Cup quarter-final defeat to France and is now expected to continue on with his contract until 2024.
The 52-year-old is the country's most successful manager since Sir Alf Ramsey. Having led his side to the semi-finals of Russia 2018 and then the Euro 2020 final held last year, Southgate entered the World Cup under pressure after a poor UEFA Nations League campaign.
England were relegated in that tournament and had stuttered since losing to Italy on penalties last summer at Wembley. Pressure then mounted on the former Middlesbrough manager ahead of the tournament in Qatar but he remains a liked man by the FA and his players, allowing him the leeway to make a decision regarding his own future.

The next major tournament is Euro 2024 in Germany and Southgate will now set about putting plans in place for that, with Italy, Ukraine, North Macedonia and Malta in their qualifying group.
Southgate has taken a week to reach this conclusion after previously feeling that it may be better for him to step down, with anger towards him and negativity being too much of a distraction. That has changed with the performances from his side in Qatar though.
England were impressive in victories over Iran and Wales in the group stage and secured a decisive 0-0 draw with USA to all but secure their passage after matchday two. The last-16 game against Senegal was close before Jordan Henderson swept in the opener after 35 minutes.
Although the journey was ended at the last eight against reigning champions France, England's positive performance during the match meant that exiting this tournament was very much different to the way that Roy Hodgson's position became untenable in 2016, or Fabio Capello before him.
Southgate has transformed the atmosphere in England camps with players very much behind their manager and that support is said to be part of the reason his mind has been swayed having been considering his position since earlier this year.
