England boss Gareth Southgate has provided an injury update on Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips following his early withdrawal in England's 1-1 draw with Germany. The hosts took the lead through Jonas Hofmann before a late Harry Kane penalty ensured the game finished level.
Phillips, 26, began the clash with Hansi Flick's side alongside Declan Rice in midfield but was involved in a strong coming together with Germany defender Nico Schlotterbeck early on. Jude Bellingham replaced the United midfielder as the Three Lions now prepare to face Italy at Molineux next week.
Suffering a difficult season through injury, the Leeds star returned to help Jesse Marsch's side ensure Premier League survival, defeating Brentford on the last day of the 21/22 season. With two more Nations League games left to come, Southgate provided a brief update following the full time whistle in Munich.

“It’s not ideal in any way shape or form to lose a really important player after 15, 20 minutes," began the 51-year-old yesterday evening. “Hopefully it’s not too bad. It’s quite a severe dead leg. Hard to know how long that will be.”
Much has of course been made of Phillip's future at Elland Road too this summer, with rumours once again circulating around the 26-year-old. Manchester City and Liverpool are known to have shown an keen interest in the player, with the Leeds faithful hopeful the club can keep hold of one of their most prized assets beyond the summer months.
With Brendan Aaronson and now seemingly Rasmus Kristensen heading through the door the Whites are starting to picking up the pace heading into the summer months, ahead of August's vital restart of Premier League action.
