Gareth Southgate is eager to give Aaron Wan-Bissaka a chance to stake his claim for an England place.
Manchester United defender Wan-Bissaka has been called up for the first time by Southgate for the upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers with Bulgaria and Kosovo.
Wan-Bissaka, 21, is named ahead of Kyle Walker for the upcoming clashes with Kieran Trippier and Trent Alexander-Arnold also named by the England boss.
On his decision to omit Walker and call up Wan-Bissaka, Southgate said: "We tracked him [Wan-Bissaka] very closely last year and thought he had an outstanding season.
"But we wanted him to stay with the U21 group, he has adapted well and quickly to a high-profile move. We are looking at him and Trent, that is reason Kyle Walker is not with us.
"We wanted to reintegrate Kieran Trippier back into the group. He had a huge move to Atletico Madrid which has gone under the radar.
"We lack some experience in a lot of positions but we have to keep evolving as a squad and a team. We had a two-year spell of progress but we can't stand still...for the long-term we need to start integrating them (young players)."
Southgate has also handed call-ups to James Maddison and Mason Mount after impressive starts to the season with Leicester and Chelsea respectively.
