Classic Hits' Gareth O'Callaghan has revealed how much he earns per show as the RTE payment scandal continues.
The former-RTE star's words come as the pressure is mounting on the national broadcaster after it emerged that up to €345,000 in undeclared "extra payments" were made to Ryan Tubridy over the years. Dubliner O'Callaghan, who is based in Cork, said he was approached by a tabloid journalist who asked him to declare his earnings.
O'Callaghan, runs a popular radio show on Ireland's Classic Hits Radio on Saturday mornings to lunchtime, CorkBeo reports. He revealed that he only gets €250 for his weekly, four-hour show.
Speaking on Twitter said: "A journalist called me last night asking what I earn for my radio show on a Saturday.

"I told him I am paid €250 by the company before PAYE tax. After my expenses and PAYE, to and from the Dublin-based studio from where I live here in Cork, I earn less than €120."
O'Callaghan spoke about how he left RTE after being rebuked by bosses for raising the issue of poor outdoors broadcast facilities at 2FM. He had a well-known afternoon show on 2FM for 15 years before moving to Class Hits in the mid-2000s.
