Gareth Bale scores stunning solo goal after running from own half as he rips up MLS

Gareth Bale has wasted precious little time when it comes to settling in at new side LAFC with two goals in his first four games - the second of which a certified wonder-goal.

The ex-Real Madrid superstar started his run from inside his own half, displaying a rapid turn of pace to latch onto a pass that forced him wider perhaps than he would have liked. However, Bale proved he is still very much capable of producing moments out of nothing.

Out on the right wing, Bale was outnumbered by Real Salt Lake defenders trying to force him into overturning possession. It was at this point the Welshman showed both defenders a clean pair of heels to jet past them and dart into the opposition penalty box.

Once he had found the time and space inside the area, Bale kept his composure to rifle a fierce left-footed effort above the half-hearted dive of goalkeeper Zac MacMath, who seemed resigned to conceding as the Welshman lined up his strike.

It has been a particularly stellar start to life in the 'City of Angels' for Bale, who looks on course to help LAFC to a first-placed finish in the Western Conference. They currently sit six points clear at the top after their recent 4-1 win, having played one game less than their nearest challengers Austin FC.

Bale is not the only household name to currently don the black and gold of LAFC, with former Juventus stalwart Giorgio Chiellini lining up at the heart of the club's defence after 18 years of playing in Turin.

The outfit are also speaheaded by ex-Arsenal prospect Carlos Vela in attack. The Mexican international showed glimpses of his promise at the Emirates, but has become the main man at the Banc of California Stadium.

As for Bale, his attentions will start to shift to international duty once the MLS season concludes in early October. The 33-year-old helped fire Wales to their first World Cup since 1958 after qualifying via the play-offs with an impressive 1-0 win over Ukraine in Cardiff.

Bale's contract in Los Angeles sees him tied to the club for 12 months, though there is an option to extend until 2024 should both parties see fit.
