Gareth Bale offer 'confirmed' amid Tottenham transfer links following Real Madrid exit

Gareth Bale has been heavily linked with a return to Tottenham Hotspur this summer. It comes after the Welshman announced his departure from Real Madrid at the end of his contract this summer.

It puts an end to a nine-year stay at the Bernabeu, having made the move there from Spurs in 2013 for around £90million. In that time, he won 19 trophies, though relations with the fans grew sour towards the end.

However, that isn’t so much the case back in north London, where he is still fondly thought of, and even enjoyed a second spell on loan under Jose Mourinho. The 32-year-old was recently awarded an MBE, to which the club tweeted: “Congratulations on an incredible achievement." A message of support, even after all those years.

The winger now faces a dilemma over the future of his career, where he currently stands at a crossroads. With Wales officially qualifying for the Qatar 2022 World Cup this winter, Bale may have to find another club to be able to keep fit in preparation.

It seems as though, despite links with a return to Tottenham and his home city of Cardiff, his agent may have found another alternative. That’s because Getafe president Angel Torres confirmed on Wednesday that there had been a proposal from the player’s agent.

He said, via Alberto Fernandez : “45 minutes ago I spoke with Gareth Bale's representative. They have offered it to us. We have to study it with the Getafe coaching staff and sports management.”

It remains to be seen whether a deal will go through, but it could rule out any chance of a third spell at Tottenham for Bale.
