A poor internet connection and homes being in locations known for criminality or anti-social behaviour were also factors in the high number of refusals relating to a total of 25,000 offers of social homes in the last two years.

Dublin City Council had the highest number of refusals from those on social housing with 764 refusals in 2021 and 576 in 2022.

Clare had the smallest rejection rate of just 3% in 2022.
