Gardai trying to track down owner of plush car left mangled on Dublin street

Gardai are trying to track down the owner of this plush Audi car which was left mangled on a street after it crashed and its occupants fled.

It happened on Friday at around 8pm in the Chapelizod area of Dublin 20 when the car was involved in a three-vehicle smash after being spotted driving “erratically”. Wreckage could be seen up the street to where the Audi RS 6 was left.

The tyres of the vehicle had been bent inwards and one flew off the vehicle and was found 10 yards away. Its back bumper had come off and some of its windows were smashed.

Gardai and Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene, but the occupants of the Audi had left on foot. The Irish Mirror reports the car had been for sale in the North in recent weeks for up to €50,000 and it is believed it was purchased and brought back down over the border.

We can also reveal that gardai have established that the same vehicle was seen travelling at 280kph in recent weeks on a motorway. On that occasion, the driver paid a toll and then hit the huge speed within 30 seconds.
