An Garda Siochana continue to monitor public transport as concerns rise over safety on Luas services.
TDs have recently led calls for increased surveillance at Luas stops, such as CCTV monitoring and a heightened Garda presence. Calls for improved safety on board Luas services grew last year, as figures showed that passenger complaints jumped by over a third in 2021.
An image was shared on Twitter of Gardai on board a Green Line service in recent days. The patrols took place with the cooperation of Transdev staff.

Gardai wrote: "Community Gardai from Fitzgibbon Street, Bridewell & Cabra Garda Stations conducted patrols on the Green Line Luas between Broombridge and the city centre, along with Transdev staff. Gardai assisted staff with compliance & in combating anti-social behaviour."
The patrol follows similar measures put in place on Dublin Bus services to combat anti-social behaviour. A number of Tallaght bus routes, such as the 27 and 77a, have been curtailed following reports of public disorder and threats to staff.
