Gardai are set to patrol DARTs, Luases, and trains during a special operation combatting anti-social behaviour.
Operation Twin Tracks will see them patrol the DART, Luas and eight inter-city rail routes, in partnership with Irish Rail and Transdev. The operation "will focus on detecting and preventing anti-social behaviour with a high level of visibility on rail networks nationwide".
High visibility patrolling will happen between the hours of 3pm and 11pm on each day. Gardai will also be seen at Connolly and Heuston stations and nationwide.

Local Crime Prevention Officers and Community Policing gardai will also deliver crime prevention advice at community engagement stands at a number of stations from 3pm to 8pm.
The crime prevention stations will be at the following stations:
• Heuston Station
• Connolly Station
• Cork
• Waterford
• Wexford
• Limerick
• Galway
• Westport
• Tralee
• Dundalk
• Sligo
The eight intercity routes that will be patrolled are:
• Mayo Division
- including Ballyhaunis, Claremorris, Manulla Junction, Foxford, Ballina, Castlebar and Westport Stations.
• Galway Division
- including Galway, Oranmore, Athenry, Attymon, Woodlawn, Ballinsloe and South from Athenry, Craigwell, Ardrahan and Gort.
• Sligo and Roscommon Leitrim Division
- including Sligo, Colloney, Ballymote, Boyle, Carrick on Shannon, Dromod, Longford and Edworthstown.
• Kildare
- including Newbridge, Kildare, Monasterevin and Athy Stations.
• Wicklow and Wexford Division
- including Bray, Greystones, Wicklow, Rathdrum, Arklow, Gorey, Enniscorthy, Wexford, and Roslare stations.
• Limerick and Tipperary Divisions
- including Limerick, Limerick Junction, Castledonnell, Birdhill, Nenagh, Cloughjordan, Roscrea, Ballbrophy, Templemore, Thurles, Tipperary, Cahir, Clonmel and Carrick on Suir.
• Cork City, North and West Divisions (2 routes)
- including Charleville, Mallow, Banteer, Millstreet and Rathmore Stations
- Cork City, Glounthane, Cobh and Midleton Stations
A garda spokesman said: "The key objectives are to ensure public safety by addressing anti-social behaviour, protecting life and property, to engage with the public and provide crime prevention advice, to support Irish Rail and Transdev Ireland personnel in tackling these issues, vindicating the human rights of each individual, preventing crime, bringing criminals to justice, through the detection and investigating of crime, and improving rail safety."
