Gardai swarm popular Irish beach after enormous crowds gather and public order incident reported

Gardai were called to a popular Irish beach yesterday after reports of a public order incident.

The incident unfolded on Burrow Beach in Sutton, Dublin on Sunday evening.

Large crowds had gathered there for much of the day as Ireland basked in 25C heat.

Uniform gardai from the Raheny District and the Public Order Unit attended the scene.

Their presence was maintained until the crowds had dispersed safely.

No arrests were made and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

Gardai are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

A Garda spokesman told the Irish Mirror: “Gardai responded following reports of a public order incident on Burrow Beach, Sutton on the evening of Sunday 4th June, 2023.

“Uniform gardai from the Raheny District and the Public Order Unit attended the scene where a presence was maintained until large crowds that had gathered there for much of the day had dispersed safely.

“No arrests were made and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

“Gardai from the Raheny District will continue to conduct high-visibility patrols in the area across the summer months as part of Operation Irene.

“Gardai in Raheny are appealing to any person who may have information in relation to this incident to contact them at Raheny Garda Station on 01 666 4300, or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.”
