Gardai stormed a suspected Cannabis growhouse in Co. Roscommon on Monday afternoon and seized a huge quantity of the drug in the process.
Officers from the Divisional Drugs Unit were assisted by Gardaí in Castlerea for this operation which was carried out on Monday, January 30 at around 1:00 pm.
During the course of this search, suspected cannabis plants with an estimated value of €288,000 were seized alongside approximately €240,000 of processed cannabis.

All of these drugs were valued at approximately €528,000, and are pending analysis from Forensic Science Ireland.
A woman in her 50s and a man in his 60s were arrested at the scene and are both currently being detained at Castlerea Garda Station.
Confirming the drug bust, a garda spokesperson said: “At approximately 1:00 pm on Monday 30th January 2023, Gardaí from the Roscommon Divisional Drugs Unit assisted by Gardaí from Castlerea conducted a search of a premise under warrant as part of Operation Tara in Ballaghaderreen, County Roscommon.
“During the course of this search, a suspected cannabis growhouse was discovered by Gardaí.
“Suspected cannabis plants with an estimated value of €288,000 were seized along with approximately €240,000 of processed cannabis.
“All of the drugs seized were valued at approximately €528,000, pending analysis from Forensic Science Ireland.
“A woman in her 50s and a man in his 60s were arrested at the scene. They are both currently being detained at Castlerea Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996”.
Gardai then confirmed that Investigations are ongoing into this case.
