Gardai say missing Dean McCann may be 'travelling through Ireland' as last known location confirmed

Missing Dublin man Dean McCann's last known location has been confirmed after a sighting in Galway as his family renew their appeal for information.

The 28-year-old was last seen at a Bank of Ireland ATM in Eyre Square in Galway's city centre shortly after 7am on Sunday, February 6.

However, Gardai said they believe he may now be 'travelling throughout the country'.

He has not made contact with his family since Sunday, February 6 at 9.30am when he was near Eyre Square in Galway.

His sister Tara McCann made a heartfelt appeal to the public on social media, writing: "I can’t believe we’re waking up to another day without him. Even when I’m trying my best looking for him I expect him to just walk by or sit down beside me."

She also urged people to check their CCTV footage to see if it can help them determine Dean's current location, writing: "We’re really hoping for CCTV to help us see if he got on a bus or train or something to somewhere new as he had been moving around before Galway.

"How could he be in such a busy location of Eyre Square and no one see anything... he could still be in Galway, but we need every single county on the lookout."

Dean is described as being 5ft 11in tall with dark hair, a beard, braces and light blue eyes (Facebook)

Tara thanked the public for their support so far said the lack of contact from her "kind-hearted" brother is very out of character.

"When he lived abroad he called my mam every single day," Tara wrote. "She has never gone a day without hearing her first baby’s voice. They have such a special bond.

"Dean said he wanted to help people in need when he left, that he wanted to do good. He is so kind hearted and we love him more than anything."

Dean is described as being 5’ 11'' (1.80m) in height, of slim build, with short brown hair, a beard and braces. His sister said he speaks in a "soft Dublin accent with an American twang".

When last seen he was wearing a navy Superdry puffer jacket with a green check pattern on the shoulders and chest.

Dean was also wrearing black Adidas tracksuit bottoms with white stripes, a white t-shirt and black Adidas runners with a white sole.

He may also be wearing a grey Carhartt beanie hat and a gold St Christopher medal.
