A motorcyclist has died in a crash with a car in Co Cork.
The incident happened on the R586 road at the village of Ballineen at around 1.45pm on Sunday.
Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene where the motorcyclist, a man in his 50s, was pronounced dead.
His body was brought to the mortuary at Cork University Hospital.
Officers said that nobody else was injured in the collision.
The road has been closed between Bandon and Bantry as officer carry out an examination of the scene and local diversions are in place.
And officers are now appealing for anyone with information about the collision to come forward.
A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are currently at the scene of a fatal road traffic collision that occurred in the village of Ballineen, Co. Cork this afternoon, Sunday 6th February 2022 at approximately 1.45pm.
"Gardaí in Bandon are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them. Any person who was travelling on the R586 – the main road between Bandon and Bantry – this afternoon and who may have camera (including dash cam) footage, is asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
"Anyone with any information in relation to this incident is asked to contact Bandon Garda Station on 023 885 2200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station."
