A male attacker is currently “at large” after a vicious assault in Galway, and Gardai in the area have now released details of his description.
The incident occurred on Newcastle Road in the early hours of Sunday morning.
A young man was assaulted and jumped by the attacker, who has not yet been caught.
Gardai have now released a description of the man in a bid to trace his whereabouts.
He is said to be around 30 years old, with dark hair. He was wearing dark clothing at the time of the attack.
A Gardai spokesperson told Galway Beo : "On Sunday morning the 3rd of July between 2 am and 3 am a young male was walking through the junction at Cooke’s Corner, Newcastle Road, Galway when it is alleged he was assaulted after an altercation with another male.
“The second male is described as being around 30 years of age with dark hair and wearing dark clothing.
"After the altercation this male left the area in the direction on Shantalla Road, Galway. Gardaí are anxious to speak with the male involved and are asking anyone that may have passed through the Cooke’s Corner/Shantalla Road area on Sunday morning between 2 am and 3 am and may have witnesses the altercation taking place to please make contact.
"We are further appealing to anyone, particularly taxi drivers that may have captured the incident on camera and/or dash cam to make contact with investigating Gardaí.
"Anyone with any information is asked is asked to contact Galway Garda Station on 091-538000 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111."
