Gardai nab driver after concerned member of the public intervenes

Gardai in Donegal nabbed a driver for drug driving after a concerned member of the public intervened.

The member of the public contacted gardai after they spotted a car driving dangerously on the outskirts of Letterkenny town on Thursday night.

Letterkenny gardai stopped the car and the driver was arrested after they tested positive for cannabis and cocaine.

A post on the Garda Siochana Donegal Facebook page read: "A concerned member of the public contacted Gardaí last night in relation to the manner and speed at which a car was being driven on the outskirts of Letterkenny town.

"Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit responded to the call and stopped the car in question. The driver was arrested as they tested positive for cannabis and cocaine.

"A small quantity of suspected cannabis was seized following a search of the car. Court proceedings will follow.

"Please do not hesitate to contact Gardaí if you should ever observe dangerous/careless activity on the roads. By alerting Gardaí you may help save lives."
