Gardai make renewed appeal over murder of Dublin mum Antoinette Smith

Gardai have issued a renewed appeal for help to solve the murder of a Clondalkin mum-of-two.

The remains of 27-year-old Antoinette Smith were found at Glendoo Mountain, near the Lemass monument close to Enniskerry, on April 3, 1988. Antoinette, who had two daughters aged seven and three, had gone missing in July the year before.

Antoinette went missing after attending a David Bowie concert with a friend at Slane Castle on July 11, 1987. She and her friend both returned to Dublin by bus, arriving at Parnell Square at approximately 11pm.

Antoinette was last seen walking by the Gresham Hotel on O’Connell Street, heading towards O’Connell Bridge, after herself and her friend attended La Mirage Discotheque shortly after 2am.

A garda spokesman said: "We are appealing for anyone who may have any information since 1987, or who may have come into possession of information since Ms Smith’s disappearance, to come forward.

"We wish to assure those who may wish to come forward, that they will be treated in a sensitive manner.

"Anyone with any information are asked to please contact Bray Garda Station on 01-6665300 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111."
