Gardaí are combing through CCTV footage after a teenager was hospitalised in an assault in Cork city.
A man has been arrested after the serious assault in the early hours of this morning which another youth in his teens needing hospital treatment.
The incident happened in the Paul Street area of the city after a number of people witnessed a violent altercation shortly before 2am. The incident is believed to have happened close to the Coal Quay/Castle Street end of Paul Street.

In a statement to CorkBeo this morning, they said: "Gardaí attended an incident of assault that occurred at approximately 1:50am earlier today, Monday, 18th October 2022 on Paul Steet, Cork City."
"One man aged in his late teens was conveyed to Cork University Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries sustained as a result of this incident.
"Another man aged in his 20s was arrested in relation to this incident and is currently detained in Bridewell Garda Station at this time."
Part of the area was sealed off this morning for a forensic examination as the investigation continues but Gardai have since opened up the area again.
Gardai are understood to be examining CCTV footage from the area, from private businesses and also from street security cams, to establish what happened.
